In the News
Our efforts to encourage the Catawba County Board of Commissioners to discuss the removal of the Confederate monument in Newton have been covered in the Hickory Daily Record (here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here), the Sherrills Ford Pioneer (here), and WSOC-TV Channel 9 (here). Prior to the 2020 election, candidates for county commission were asked about their positions on the monument issue by the Hickory Daily Record, and you can read their responses here. After the election, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners spoke briefly about the issue at their December 7 meeting but did not address any of the ongoing concerns expressed in our July letter to the Board.
